Some northern pike are being caught in the weeds in 6-10 ft of water. The fish are being caught on slip bobber rigged suckers. The best location has been in Williams Bay or the beach in Fontana. I’ve been putting out quite a few rods to try and catch them.
There are quite a few small fish being caught, however in a 4 hour trip, you should catch between 6 and 12 legal fish. My biggest fish last week was 19 ½ inches.
I’m either drop shotting small plastic worms or using small yellow perch fished on a lindy rig. Walleye are still being caught at night. The best depth is 12-15 ft.
Walleye fishing has been slowing due to the cooler weather in the evenings. Some are still being caught at night in about 13 ft. of water. They are still associating with the weed flats.
Northern Pike will be picking up in about 10 days once the Thermocline starts. I’ll be starting to try for them the 2nd week of July.

Smallmouth bass have been caught in 22-24 ft of water. The best bait is lindy rigged nightcrawlers. The leader length should be 18-24 inches fished behind an 1/8 oz or ¼ oz walking sinker depending on the wind.
Rock bass fishing has been excellent. The bigger fish seem to be in 15-20 ft of water. However, for better action, the 12 ft range seems to always produce. No need to get fancy, the old split shot rig and a single hook works fine.
