Clear water again makes it challenging, I have found that long casts are a must so the fish don’t get spooked. Keep moving to find a feeding school of fish. Because these crappies are pre-spawn they can be very big so keep a small net handy.

The fishing season for me has come to a close! The shorter days and unpredictable weather make consistently getting an opportunity to get out on the lake a bit too difficult. Once there is safe ice, I’ll try to provide an update on the ice fishing.

Game fish is the first Saturday in May!
Walleyes can be caught at night. They are being caught on large Rapallas or Smithwick medium diving rogues.
Look for the fish by the Village or off of Willow Point. Perch are being caught in 12-15 ft of water. The best bait is large leaf worms or small fat head minnows
The best location has been by the Village point and the Oriental boat house. Bluegills are in the 12-15 ft depth range. They are not as easy to catch as they were in the past few weeks.
