Rock bass fishing has been excellent. The bigger fish seem to be in 15-20 ft of water. However, for better action, the 12 ft range seems to always produce. No need to get fancy, the old split shot rig and a single hook works fine.
Perch fishing has been very good. The problem is that you need to sort through a lot of small ones to catch a good limit. The best locations have been Rainbow Point and Belvidere Park. The best presentation has been a split shot rigged leaf worm or small fat head minnow. Most of the fish […]

I’ve been either drop shotting 4 inch green pumpkin worms or slowly reeling in a jig and a grub tail. The best depth has […]
Yellow perch are also in the shallows. They can be caught by Belvidere Park in 8-10 ft of water. The best approach is small fat head minnows fished on a Thill slip bobber. The only problem has been that the average size is about 5 inches. You will need to do a lot of sorting […]

The fish I’ve caught have been by Belvidere Park or Elgin Club. Most of the fish I’m catching are on a split shot rigged minnow or on white hair jigs. The split […]
Largemouth bass have been biting in the shallows in 3-4 ft of water. The best location has been Trinkes or Abbey Harbor. They can be caught on a split shot rigged nightcrawler or a green pumpkin Senko. With the chilly weather over the weekend, you need to fish really slow to get the bite.
