However, I’ve been catching fish during the daylight too. I’ve been averaging a legal fish every other trip. My best success has come off of leeches or nightcrawlers. I’ve been using lindy rigs with an 1/8 oz sinker or a split shot rigged nightcrawler.
The Oriental boathouse or the Majors Estate are good locations. Blue gills are in the shallows spawning right now.
Bluegill fishing remains awesome. There are a lot of fish still in the 3-4 ft range. Also, there has been good success in the 20-22 ft range.
Walleye fishing has been all right. I’m catching a few every trip out. The best bait is lindy rigged nightcrawlers fished in about 18-19 ft of water. Chartreuse painted hooks seem to produce more bites for me.
Largemouth bass that I’m fishing for are coming off the deep weedline. I’m moving around a lot. There is no rhyme or reason as to their location. The best location is under the bridge on the inlet. For the deep weedline fish, try casting nightcrawlers fished on a split shot rig. Some of the bass I caught last week were 17-18 inches. Largemouth bass are in 4-5 ft of water around the boat docks. I’ve been concentrating on south shore piers. They can be caught on Senkos. Green pumpkin or watermelon seed are the best colors.
