I have caught have come off of nightcrawlers fished right off bottom. Walleye fishing remains excellent at night. The fish remain in their same general areas by Trinkes Bay, Williams Bay and Abbey Springs.
Smallmouth bass have been extremely hard to find. They’ve vanished into their deep water haunts. There are a few being caught by Gage Marine or the Yacht Club in 20-22 ft of water.
Bluegill fishing has been average. The best bite is in the 12-15 ft depth range. The fish are biting on small leaf worms or wax worms fished on an ice jig.
Bluegills are still being caught in the 12-18 ft depth range. They can be readily caught by drifting nightcrawlers on a split shot rig. The best location is by the Military Academy or by the Elgin Club.
I am still catching some nice bluegills in the 18-20 ft range. I’m catching a lot in the 9-10 inch range. Small red worms or nightcrawler pieces are producing most of the action. I
The smallmouth success has been very spotty. The best action has come by Covenant Harbor or by Trinkes Bay. Work a depth of 18-20 ft of water on the outside of the weed lines.
The deep water lindy rigged sucker bite has been slower than years’ past. The best location has been by the gray condos or by Belvidere condos.
