Largemouth bass are biting very well. There are two patterns that are working. Dock fisherman are having good success. I have been getting large fish on the deep weed lines in about 16-18 ft. of water. I have been using a lindy rigged nightcrawler. The leader length varies, however I usually use a 18-24 inch […]
Northern pike are on the weed lines. They are starting to move into the deeper water. By the end of this week they should be easily caught by lindy rigs.
Walleye fishing has been hit or miss. The most consistent method has been fishing leeches right along the weed line in 12-15 ft. of water. I’ve been using small painted hooks and 1/8 oz walking sinkers.
Perch and Bluegills are starting to bite in the shallows. The bluegills and perch are both in about 5-6 ft. of water. The best bait has been leaf worms or small nightcrawlers. I fish almost exclusively a small hook and bobber combination.
Largemouth bass are starting to make nests and begin spawning. Sight fishermen are having the best success. Look for them in 2-3 ft. of water, associating with hard sand. The tricky part is trying to present a bait without getting the green slime on it. I prefer fishing a Texas rigged tube bait, either chartreuse/pepper […]
Bluegills have been a guaranteed bite for the last week. Some of them were in excess of 10 inches. You had to weed through lots of small ones to catch a good dinner. The best depth was in the shallow weeds in 3-4 ft. of water. I caught all of my fish on an ice […]
Crappies were very sporadic. I spoke with several people who caught limits in 14-16 ft. of water on the west end of the lake. The bait of choice for them was small tube jigs fishing for suspended crappies. When I tried for them, they moved out of the area. The crappies will bite but it […]
Crappie fishing is still very productive. They are again in the weeds in 8-14 ft. of water. Most of the limits are being taken at night, which makes it tough in the cool weather. Some good locations are the Village Supper Club and in front of Assembly Park. The best success is produced on small […]
