Perch and Bluegills are starting to bite in the shallows.  The bluegills and perch are both in about 5-6 ft. of water.  The best bait has been leaf worms or small nightcrawlers.  I fish almost exclusively a small hook and bobber combination.

Crappies were very sporadic.  I spoke with several people who caught limits in 14-16 ft. of water on the west end of the lake.  The bait of choice for them was small tube jigs fishing for suspended crappies.  When I tried for them, they moved out of the area.  The crappies will bite but it […]

Lake Trout fishing has been very productive in the main lake basin.  They are consistently biting on chrome/blue and chrome/green spoons.  The best depth is between 69 and 79 ft down in 110-140 ft of water.  The key is the early morning bite when the fish are off the bottom and suspended in the water […]

Largemouth Bass can be caught in the shallows or on the deep weedline.  The shallow fish can be caught on split shot rigged nightcrawlers or on top water lures.  The best location has been Trinkes Bay or by Linn Pier.  I’ve been working a depth of 10-12 ft.  Some of the largemouth are starting to […]

Northern Pike fishing has been okay in the shallow weed flats. The most action is coming out of 12-13 ft of water casting white spinner baits or medium diving fire tiger crank baits. Look for the fish on the west end, in Viewcrest or the Highlands. The sucker bite for me has been non-existent.

Bluegill fishing, like the bass, have been feast or famine. Some days they are in the 13-15 ft depth range and the next day they’ve vanished. The best locations have been in front of Lake Lawn Lodge, Township Park and Assembly Park. The fish can be caught on split shot rigged trout worms or red […]
