Fish Wisconsin! Fishing Reports for Walworth County Lakes; Lake Geneva, Lake Delavan, & Lake Lauderdale

Lake Geneva, 9/28/20 – 10/05/20

Smallmouth bass have been caught in 22-24 ft of water.  The best bait is lindy rigged nightcrawlers.  The leader length should be 18-24 inches fished behind an 1/8 oz or ¼ oz walking sinker depending on the wind.

Rock bass fishing has been excellent.  The bigger fish seem to be in 15-20 ft of water.  However, for better action, the 12 ft range seems to always produce.  No need to get fancy, the old split shot rig and a single hook works fine.

Largemouth bass have moved off the deep weedline and now are in 10-12 ft of water.  I’ve been fishing either slip bobber rigged suckers or split shot rigged worms.  The key to finding the right location is large holes in the thick weed mat.  Once you find these sandy spots, you basically just cast your […]

Bluegill and sunfish have been great.  The fish are in 21 to 26 feet of water.  Small leaf worms fished on a split shot rig.  Work the bait six inches off bottom.  The fish are off the weeds, I locate the fish locator before I start fishing.

Delavan Lake, 9/7/20 – 9/14/20

Walleye fishing has been good right at dusk and at dawn.  The fish are still in 16-18 ft of water.  The only time I’ve had any really good success has been in the low light conditions.  Almost all of the fish have been caught on night crawlers.

Bluegill fishing has been awesome.  The fish are either in 20-24 ft of water or 15-17 ft of water.  They are located about 6 inches to 1 ft off bottom.   The average size has been decreasing weekly.  I think the tremendous pressure these fish have been under has reduced the size.  The best location has […]
